Perfect partners for cheese – Dulce de membrillo and quince mustard sauce

October 18, 2012 by nadel&gabel

Quince – until a few years or so, it would have been very likely that the only reaction to this name you would have earned from people was a question mark in their face, the same would have been probably the case when you would have shown them the actual fruit. “Is it a pear? An apple?” – No, quince, the fruit only some grandmothers would make jelly from. But those days are gone, nowadays quince – like other nearly […]

Natures colours

June 21, 2012 by nadel&gabel

This weeks theme for the Beauty-is-where-you find-it photo challenge is “burst of colours vs. monochrome” – a chance for me to give this Photoshop tutorial from Katrina – usually blogging at her amazing blog Pugly Pixel – a try. And isn’t a rainbow a real colour burst, a showcase of natures colours?

At Lake Constance

June 7, 2012 by nadel&gabel

Lately we`ve been to Lake Constance – the “Swabian Sea” – for a few days. And although the weather wasn’t all days the best, I’m always impressed how relaxing and calming it is just to be at the water. Here are some “tiny small vs. real huge” impressions of this stay, I just couldn’t decide on one of them.

Da ua – Dreamlike vietnamese yoghurt

March 1, 2012 by nadel&gabel

It took me years to get over my homemade-yoghurt-trauma. For some time, my mother regularly used to make natural yoghurt at home with her 70s yoghurt machine. Today I adore the round 70s design and the orange colour of this machine – as a child I couldn’t stand the yoghurt that came out of this machine: too sour for me, not creamy and always with a skin on top…ew! It was only last summer that I made my first own […]

The lightness of being

February 25, 2012 by nadel&gabel

After one week of pausing I am back at the Beauty-is-where-you-find it challenge, already a bit late again. This week’s theme “Leichtigkeit [airiness]”. As there are already some feathers, flowers, clouds, blow bubbles – my first associations as well – I had to give it another thought… and found one of my latest shopping catch – airy, light lace fabric, waiting to be sewed up.

Am Wegesrand [on my wayside]

February 14, 2012 by nadel&gabel

On my wayside – this weeks Beauty-is-where-you-find-it-theme, and look, what I’ve found: Just around the corner there’s this shabby bubble gum machine. Does anybody still use those automats? For me, they’re so totally 80’s … they remind me of my childhood when I went to primary school: Every day, me and my sister got from our parents 30 Pfennig to buy a cup of milk, which was sold at school during the break. We only bought our cup of milk […]

Icy beauty

February 5, 2012 by nadel&gabel

It is never too late to start something new, isn’t it? Last week I discovered the photo project Beauty is were you find it, hosted by Nic from luzia pimpinella, a beautiful blog full of inspiring ideas for crafting, sewing and great pictures. So, I decided to join this photo project, although I am not very good in sticking to such long time projects…ok, it is worth a trial. The theme for this week is “zwei [two]” – I immediatly […]
