The other Rome

June 1, 2018 by nadel&gabel

If you follow me on Instagram you already know about my short trip to Rome, not a leisure trip but a studies excursion with students focusing on art and history. If you’ve been to Rome before or even if you haven’t been you probably know that attractions in Rome are basically endless. There are so many “must see’s” that you can easily feel overwhelmed… the masses of tourists do their part as well. Here is a short overview to some […]

Turné i södra Sverige III – Sea, islands and wind

September 16, 2014 by nadel&gabel

This was the view that welcomed us in Skärhamn – a view that I just couldn’t get enough of. So, before the daily routine has absorbed me again, here finally is the last part of my summer travel retrospective. Additionally I’ve dedicated a pinterest board to our travelling through Sweden with our favourite places to stay, eat, visit plus some other inspiration. For our stay at the west coast of Sweden we had rented one of the studios of the […]

Industrial ambience and lots of creativity – “Vogelwild” market

May 12, 2014 by nadel&gabel

This weekend I mingled with the young-creative-hipster-world – on the lifestyle and design market “Vogelwild” that took place around here. A fine selection of different kinds of small makers presented their craft and design work. From furniture or clothing, bags, jewellery to stationary – everything could be found. A lot of the designers are working with ecological and fair produced material or are recycling old material – an approach that becomes more and more important for me, too. The industrial […]

My work space II – Folded book into mail holder

February 22, 2014 by nadel&gabel

My guilty conscience started in the moment I entered the antiquarian book shop. I couldn’t shake off the feeling that the owner could read it in my face – that I didn’t want to buy one of his books for its content, to read it or give it away … but to destroy it! I had seen some interesting DIY projects reusing old books, for example this, this or this one. But I always asked myself the question: Am I […]

Dimensional – Geometric wall art

May 18, 2013 by nadel&gabel

New season, new decoration! For quite a while now I had the idea to create something similiar to those cute snug. magnets. The optical illusions created simply by rhombs arranged in different ways is fascinating. And the wall next to my working desk definitely needed a renewal. At least I am sitting there many hours each day. This would be a great eyecatcher and bring as well a bit more wideness (at least visual) into this corner of the room. […]

3D paper letters

December 19, 2011 by nadel&gabel

A bit of cutting and folding, a bit of fiddling and glueing – and a funny lecture in geometry and spatial imagination: Punched out, a free font, available for download at DaFont, that allows you to make 3D paper letters. My “BOOK” (which isn’t that accurate and a bit wonky…) is decorating the book shelf now! Thanks to Jessica who – again – called my attention to this. By the way: The cute retro dymo font is from Dafont as […]
